The Tree of Hope is our signature fundraising campaign to raise community awareness about intellectual and developmental disabilities and the supports and services DSC offers. This campaign provides an opportunity for individuals to gain a more in-depth understanding of how intellectual and developmental disabilities affect our families, and thus, our community. The funds raised during this campaign directly impact the children and adults we serve, providing them the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their fullest potential. As a community, we embrace those on their journey to reach their personal goals and dreams, thus improving their lives and strengthening the foundation of the community we call home.
The Tree of Hope began in 1994 with the Erickson’s sharing their family story and a campaign goal to raise $40,000. At that time, a tree was planted at the corner of Marketview and Prospect that would become a community-wide symbol of hope for people with developmental disabilities in Champaign, Ford, and Piatt counties.
The Tree of Hope campaign runs from November to January 31st. With each donation, bulbs on the tree are lit signifying a brighter future for the children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We hope you will consider supporting the Tree of Hope every year! Together, we can make a difference!!
