Continuing our Celebration of Sarah! Sarah loves sports and trying new things. She was recently awarded Sportswoman of the Year by Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation (CUSR)! For Special Olympics, Sarah has participated in Basketball, Volleyball, Track & Field, and most recently, Power Lifting! In June, she won a silver medal in the 100M run at the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games!
"Sarah is one of the hardest working athletes that I've ever worked with. She’s smart, always willing to work to improve, and she’s optimistic even when she fails. She is a joy to be around, and I’m proud to have coached her. Of course she wins medals, but she embodies what Special Olympics is all about—trying your best and having fun while doing it." -Special Olympics Coach, Darrien Watson
"Sarah has always been a very bright spirit, very energetic, and very confident when it comes to trying news things. She always gives a 100% effort, mentally and physically. She's a blessing to have on our team, when it comes to morale, when it comes to settign an example of never giving up on yourself. She's always encouraging her peers, her teammates and clapping and cheering for them." -Special Olympics Coach, Ki-Jana Roland
